Who are we?

We are everyday cyclists, recreational cyclists, occasional cyclists, commuter cyclists, and would-be cyclists in North Taranaki, and we're here to talk about biking.

We know that we all win when more people bike, more often.

This group is a space to chat cycling, learn from each other, and work together to increase the profile of cycling in local government decision-making.

We're affiliated with the Cycling Action Network (CAN), a nationwide group that provides a voice for cyclists in Aotearoa New Zealand.

WhAT DO WE DO?

At North Taranaki Cycling Advocates, we ride bikes for many different reasons - for transport, for fun, to reduce our emissions - but we come together in our belief that we can create communities where getting on a bike is a quick, easy, and fun way to move around for many day-to-day activities. We work together to make cycling easier, safer, and more visible in Taranaki by:

  • Providing cycling advocacy to our local councils and committees

  • Pushing for improvements to cycle infrastructure and creation of safe, separated, and signposted cycle routes

  • Supporting cycling as a mode of transport with other bike infrastructure (e.g. parking, storage, etc.)

  • Showing the community how wonderful riding a bike can be and encouraging people to give it a go.
